Hulu Not Working – How to Fix this Problem

You’re at the peak of a gripping Hulu original show or watching one of your favourite reruns when all of a sudden everything crashes. Hulu users have experienced this at one point or another, and it is one of the most dreadful things that can happen to you while watching a show. Hulu problems like buffering, low video quality, freezing videos, connection errors, playback failures, and skipping can all be caused by a variety of factors. And let’s not forget the dreaded fix Hulu error code. No matter what device you’re using, here’s how you can troubleshoot the problem so that you can get back to your show quickly.

Hulu May be Unavailable

I think it’s not unusual for Hulu to go down from time to time, either for the whole service or just for a portion of users. The first thing you should do is make sure the problem isn’t out of your control and in the hands of Hulu technicians before you attempt any at-home streaming fixes. There is a website called DownDetector.com that is great for checking the status of the service. You can also find a live outage map and a list of complaints from other users. It is possible to check whether there are any problems with Hulu by using Twitter’s #huludown tag or the #hulu hashtag.

How To Fix Hulu Issues Quickly?

Now that you’re sure there’s nothing wrong with Hulu, you can try some at-home remedies. I am listing a few steps that have worked for us in the past, and if one doesn’t work for you, keep going down the list to see if the next one will.

  1. On your streaming device, you should completely close the Hulu app and then reopen it.
  2. Make sure that you restart your device.
  3. You may need to reset your router. If you’re not sure how to reset a router, here’s our simple guide on how to do it.
  4. Download the most recent version of Hulu. Find out if you can download an update or a newer version of the app by going to the app store.
  5. Remove the app from your phone and reinstall it.
  6. Remove your device or console from your account and add it again.
  7. (For U.S. customers) Make sure that VPN and proxy services are turned off.

A More Sophisticated Fix

You may have a slow internet connection if you are still not able to stream Hulu’s shows. To check whether your internet service moves data fast enough for Hulu to function, you should run a speed test on your connection. Hulu recommends that you watch the Hulu streaming library at a speed of 3.0Mbps, live streams at a speed of 8.0Mbps, and you watch 4K content at a speed of 16Mbps. I am not aware of how to perform a speed test for various devices, such as computers, smart TV models, iPads, mobile devices, and games systems. Hulu has a guide on how to perform a speed test for these devices.

When you have other devices on your Wi-Fi, they might lower the speed at which Hulu streams if they are using your Wi-Fi. To get rid of dead zones on your Wi-Fi network, you may want to try connecting your device directly to the router using an Ethernet or HDMI cable or by adding a Wi-Fi repeater to your network.

The last resort you have if nothing seems to be working is to Google the specific Hulu error code you are receiving or go to the Hulu Community to see if others have found solutions to similar problems.
